Modernizing Aquaculture in Nepal
Modernizing Aquaculture in Nepal is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) under its Food for Progress program and led by Lutheran World Relief (LWR). Forum For Rural Women Ardency Development(FORWARD) NGO is implementing project activities in Sunsari and Morang districts in collaboration with fish farmers, local governments, hatcheries, nurseries, markets and other aquaculture value-chain actors. The project promotes modern and commercially sustainable aquaculture through farmer training, demonstration ponds, water-quality management, improved fish seed and feed, sanitary and phytosanitary standards, post-harvest handling, hatchery and nursery development, financial literacy and stronger buyer–seller linkages. It also strengthens agricultural extension services, market infrastructure, food safety and access to technology, finance and reliable aquaculture inputs.
