The Low-Cost Housing & Rehabilitation (LCHR) project provides safe, durable, earthquake-resistant, and eco-friendly houses to ultra-poor, landless, and disaster-affected families. FORWARD uses a hybrid construction model, combining brick, cement, CGI sheets, and professionally treated bamboo to reduce costs while ensuring long-term strength.
Treated bamboo is a critical component because it:
* Increases structural strength and flexibility, essential for earthquake-prone areas.
* Resists termites, moisture, and decay, making the houses long-lasting.
* Reduces carbon footprint and promotes environment-friendly construction.
* Is lightweight, affordable, and sourced locally—supporting community livelihoods.
Through transparent beneficiary selection, strict procurement, engineering supervision, and compliance with safeguarding and anti-fraud policies, LCHR ensures each house is safe, dignified, cost-efficient, and sustainable for vulnerable families.
